myspace dd dagger the easies garage rock indie austin tx rock and roll live music capital of the world

"Polly Jean meets Chan Marshal in a major blues meltdown." That pretty much describes Lipkin (a.k.a DD Dagger's) mix of simple guitar licks, sultry vox, and songwriting style- steeped in powerchords and blues scales. As for the players in the Easies- they too got soul. Bassist Jeff Linton hails from Detroit and finds solace in the blues sound of the 50's. Kevin Hoyas, guitar, enjoys that Garage music of the 60's- The Kinks, The Who, The Flamin' Groovies....and because Kevin works at Waterloo Records he sees his fair share of what's old & new. As for Drummer Kory Cook - he's an amazing talent playing everything from garage to jazz - and he's also the assistant program director at KUT - Austin's National Public Radio affiliate. What do these players have in common? The desire to rock it and fill their lives with music and performance.

Moving to Austin from Houston to go to art school at UT, DD Dagger's first instrument was Saxophone. At the ripe age of 23 she learned how to hold her own in jazzy combos as well as rock and roll horn sections. (Deep Sombreros, Crack Pipes, Super Ego, Tim Kerr's Total Direct Sound Action Comittee) From that base she draws on musical harmonies, melodies, and rhythms inspired by daily events and expression to write The Easies music. Beginning with their first release on Topple Records in November '07 and a video out for their single "Money", the band will seek more live venues to perform in and outside of their residence in Austin, Tx.
